The December Uniform: Classic Red Attire

Although shades of red are always in style, there is no time like December to wear this color. From bright red to burgundy and every shade between, these colors are the backdrop of the season. There is no better shade to wear in December to compliment your surroundings…and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to compliment their surroundings? In this post, I have included looks that are both casual and dressy and can be worn day and evening.

Last weekend while visiting my in-laws in Palm Desert, I decided to enlist my fiance as my photographer. This is a job he is normally less than thrilled to be given, but sometimes he really gets into it. He never forgets to remind me of the photo journalism course he took a million years ago during his undergraduate studies at UCLA. Fortunately for me, I am the beneficiary of these skills he gained from this elective course, which was no doubt to get those last few credits needed to graduate. Little did he know he would be photographing his fiance many years later, because she was something called a blogger.

I shot my signature holiday looks here because I knew the clubhouse in my in-law’s community would be perfectly decked out for Christmas. We also shot at the famous shopping district, El Paseo, where the holiday decor was in full force. I decided to go with a desert backdrop because snow in our local Southern California mountains doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon. With the quintessential winter wonderland was not available, why not palm trees instead?
