Although I’ve never been one to obsessively follow fashion trends, researching what was hot on the runway for the season has always been a fun project for me. Normally I tend to wear what I like, and what looks good on me, regardless of what is happening on the runway. This season, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that several very wearable trends. Many of the ones I’m embracing happen to be things I already have in my wardrobe and love wearing.
This post is meant to just show you the runway looks. I recognize that many of these looks are not styled for everyday consumption, as is with most runway fashion. My goal is to take these ideas from runway to real life for you. Over the next several weeks, I will show you how I’m interpreting each of these five ideas into my own looks that are not only wearable, but also affordable. Neutrals:
Head to toe neutral colors are always a great idea for spring. Beige, tan, and cream look rich in silky fabrics and classic safari styles. These simple, timeless colors and styles can be made fun by adding fun accessories, or lived up mixed with prints.
Pale Blue:
Several pastel colors made an appearance for spring, including lavender, pale yellow, orange sherbet, and most predominantly, pale blue. Pale blue has always been one of my favorite colors to wear, and I’m thrilled at how much of this color I have been seeing in stores already this spring.
Scarf Prints:
Not only do I love scarves in the traditional sense, classic scarf prints made into dresses, blouses, and skirts are even better. Bright colorful silks in a variety of chains, paisley, and bandana prints graced the runway. I normally can’t get enough print, but I was excited to see something other than florals making an appearance this spring.
Neon:
Typically my spring/summer closet looks like a print explosion. I decided to take a little step back from print this spring, and focus on wearing more solid colors. It seems as if there is newness in color right now, and because of that, I’m much more enthusiastic about solids. Wearing one color allows us to highlight accessories such as fun shoes, statement handbags, hair accessories, and scarves. The neon of the 80’s is not really my jam, but I have managed to find some very cool silhouettes in neon that are just my speed. Vibrant shades of red, green, yellow, and orange seem new again this spring.
Tie Dye:
I have always loved tie dye in the summer. I personally tend to gravitate towards the pretty, flowy tie dye pieces, as opposed to hippie dippie tee shirts with peace signs. This season’s runway showed tie dye in all sorts of new ways. I was excited to see this dying method get an update for Spring 2019. Did anyone else tie dye their own clothes when they were kids? I vaguely remember this being a girl scout project …
