I am thrilled to be bringing you my very first beauty post on The Style Nav. While I hardly think of myself as a beauty expert, looking young, vibrant, and natural is a priority for me. I really wanted to have a beauty section on my blog that speaks to other women like me. Those who don’t spend hours getting ready in the morning, but strive for a simple routine that keeps them looking and feeling great. My goal is to be photo ready in under 30-40 minutes from the time I jump in the shower, and that even a luxury now with a one year old!
Hair care is the topic of my first post. I have come to realize that things like color treating and heat tools, not to mention age and hormone changes after giving birth, all wreak major havoc on a girls hair. I used to use drug store hair products, even coloring my own hair from time to time (gasp). However, in the past few years I have begun splurging more on hair care. All of the products I will discuss today are ones that I use on a regular basis, and most of them for a few years now. None were given to me for free to try.
What is most important to me now is not only the health of my hair, but that the products I use contain natural ingredients that are safe for both me and the environment. All but one of the products I will be sharing on today’s post are made by Davines. This brand prides itself on what they call sustainable beauty. That encompasses both the use of nontoxic natural ingredients, and production and packaging that minimizes impact on the environment.
I discovered these products in my favorite LA salon. Gold on Grand Salon, in downtown LA, is one of our cities best kept little secrets. This adorable salon is in an art deco building on the 4th floor in this small, but super chic space. Ashley Flores, who is owner of the salon and my stylist, is the ultimate “girl boss”. Not only is she a master at cutting, coloring, and styling hair, but she also gives great personalized care with a smile. I feel so much at home when I am at this salon. For years I went to a big, well known salon in Beverly Hills, where I paid twice the price for an okay hair cut and service that made me feel as if I didn’t belong. Since I have been going to Gold on Grand, I have not only upped my hair game with a great stylist, but I am also taking better care of my hair by using the right products.
1. Davines NOUNOU Shampoo:
2. Davines NOUNOU Conditioner:
Davines has a line of several different shampoos and conditioners for all types of hair. They make them for curly hair, frizzy hair, dry hair, and color treated hair to mention a few. I use the one called NOUNOU, which is for brittle, thin, and highly processed hair. I used to use the one called MINU, which is for color treated hair and is great. However, I recently switched to the NOUNOU after giving birth to my son, and I do notice a difference in the look and feel of my hair.
3. Davines NOUNOU Hair Mask:
4. Evo Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Conditioner:
Both of these items I use for a deep conditioning on my hair about once per week. Like the shampoo and conditioner, Davines NOUNOU hair mask is for damaged hair, but this mask takes things one step further in keeping my hair healthy from all the color and heat tool abuse that it gets. The Fabuloso Conditioner helps intensify my blonde by cooling the color down. When Ashley colors my hair, she uses a tone that is more on the ashy side, however, my hair tends to turn more golden over time. The Fabuloso contains natural ingredients that are a very vibrant shade of purple. Although this color is a bit scary when it goes on, once it is washed out, my color is back to what it was when I walked out of the salon. As a bonus, it also smells great. My fiance always comments on how good my hair smells after using this product.
5. Davines Minu Hair Serum:
I use this spray immediately after towel drying my hair. It helps protect my color and adds shine. This also helps as an extra conditioner for my hair before I use my wet brush to detangle, prior to drying.

I’m going to look out for these products when I go shopping next! I love the live clean line, especially the shampoo and conditioner for sensitive skin. It’s made from 98% plant based ingredients and has helped my dry scalp a lot without the harmful chemicals!

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BLOG POST! I HAVE COLOR TREATED HAIR AND I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A BRAND THAT IS GENTLE, YET TAKES CARE OF MY HAIR TOO. One of the beauty products I am loving recently is the Mario Badescu skin care line. Especially the Cucumber Toner and the face masks. They make my skin feel refreshed and so clean! Thank you for all your advice Lov, and I look forward to your other beauty posts! @beckajoyblog
