. Although this is going to be my final post on transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall, I anticipate this will be an ongoing series I will bring back during the transition to spring. For this final installment of “Wear Then, Now, and Later” I choose a mustard yellow color palette throughout this capsule. As with my other 3 posts, I used a versatile layering piece that makes an appearance in each cooler weather look. This time my layering piece is a mustard faux leather ruffle jacket from Zara. Although Zara no longer has the jacket, I was able to find it elsewhere, and I have linked it below.
Outfit Group 1:
In outfit group 1, I used this yellow floral off the shoulder blouse with beautiful bell-shaped sleeves. In the first look, I paired the blouse with green stonewashed jeans. I love these because the hint of green in the wash is a nice twist on traditional denim. I finished this look off with my brown leather open toe booties, which have already been getting a lot of wear this month. In the second look, I added the yellow jacket and changed to a darker denim that is paired with knee high suede boots from Nine West.

Outfit Group 2:
In outfit group 2, I decided to make the base piece a romper. This seemed a bit unorthodox for me because I typically think of rompers as strictly summertime attire. However, this particular one with it’s 3/4 sleeves and fall colors seemed like a good choice. In the warmer weather look, I paired it with a hat and black suede fringe Minnetonka sandals. I am a huge Minnetonka fan because they make amazingly comfortable and cute casual shoes. The weather was in the 80’s the day my friend, Octavia Klein, shot these looks. Although the hat is wool, it was actually helpful in creating shade from the sun on that day. For the second look, I added the yellow jacket and black riding boots to transition this outfit for a cooler Southern California day.

Outfit Group 3:
In the last outfit group, I chose a maxi dress as my base. Maxi dresses are another category that I used to think of as strictly summer. However, I recently embraced them for fall, especially with a heavier shoe and a hat. There are great maxi dresses available now with sleeves that are in great fall colors. I plan on wearing mine well into fall this season. This one I bought this summer at Target, and as of now it is still available. I paired the dress with a tan hat and flat open sandals for the first look. I added the yellow ruffle jacket and a heeled suede sandal for the second look. Pairing jackets with maxi dresses can be tricky, but work if they are shorter in the waist and sleeve length.
